Camtasia

Camtasia is a screen recording and video editing software developed by TechSmith. It is widely used for creating tutorials, product demonstrations, training videos, and other types of content that involve screen recordings and video editing.

Challenge

As part of my ongoing professional development, I was presented with an exciting challenge by two Senior UX Designers: to update the loading screen for the Camtasia software. This project required me to not only reimagine the visual and functional aspects of the loading screen but also to consider the user experience it delivers. My goal was to create a design that aligns with Camtasia’s brand identity, communicates its values, and enhances the overall user experience during the loading process. The desired reaction was to have a user say "Wow cool".

Process

To achieve this, I conducted research into modern design trends, ensuring the new loading screen would both be aesthetically pleasing and informative while maintaining branding guidelines. I collaborated with the UX team to gather feedback, iterated on my designs, and presented the final prototype ensuring that it met high usability and accessibility standards.

The initial designs were met with enthusiasm by the UX designers, who appreciated the thoughtfulness and functionality embedded in the concepts. Their positive feedback validated the design choices, affirming that the visual and interactive elements aligned well with user experience best practices.

The approval to move forward underscored confidence in the proposed design’s ability to enhance the user experience. Key elements such as smooth animations, clear branding, and intuitive visual cues were carefully crafted to ensure that the loading screen would captivate users while maintaining clarity and simplicity. The design team prioritized balancing aesthetics with performance, mindful of loading times and ensuring compatibility across platforms.

This project sharpened my skills in Hi-Fidelity UX design, reinforced the importance of communicating a clear vision and cross-team collaboration. This project clearly demonstrated my ability to contribute meaningful prototyping and motion design to a widely-used product like Camtasia.

TechSmith

TechSmith Corporation is a software development company known for creating tools that enable users to capture, edit, and share visuals and videos. Founded in 1987 and headquartered in East Lansing, Michigan, TechSmith specializes in screen recording, video editing, and image annotation software.

Challenge

I was honored to be challenged by a Vice President of Community Outreach and Customer Operations and Vice President of Human Resources to create a video design overview of their products. This project was an incredible opportunity to showcase my skills in visual storytelling and product communication. The goal was to craft a video that effectively highlighted the features, benefits, and unique selling points of the company’s offerings while maintaining a clear and engaging narrative.

Process

I collaborated with other company Stakeholders, Directors, and Senior leaders to understand the core messaging and key aspects of the products. I then designed a storyboard, ensuring the visuals aligned with the company’s branding and resonated with the target audience. Incorporating dynamic animations, clear visuals, and concise messaging, I created a video that provides an intuitive and visually appealing overview of the products.

​This experience not only honed my creative and technical abilities but also deepened my understanding of translating complex product information into an accessible and engaging format. The final video design served as a powerful tool for community engagement and customer education, demonstrating the company’s commitment to innovation and user-focused product solutions.

André Luck Group

The André Luck Group provides Motivational Speaking and Career & Life Coaching services. With over 25 years of experience in Career Services and Human Resources, they have successfully helped many individuals and organizations achieve their goals and unlock their full potential.

Challenge

I was entrusted by The Andre Luck Group with the exciting challenge of designing their official logo and establishing the visual branding for their company. This project was a pivotal opportunity to craft a design that would not only represent the company’s identity but also resonate with its audience and embody its values and esteemed professionalism.

Process

I conducted extensive consultations, ensuring I fully understood their brand personality and industry. I explored various design concepts, focusing on creating a logo that would be versatile, memorable, and reflective of their unique identity. Key considerations included color psychology, typography, and symbolism, aiming to convey professionalism, trust, and vision.

Leadership deemed the initial round of mockup designs to be "too busy," signaling the need for a more streamlined and focused approach to the visuals. This feedback highlighted an important aspect of effective design: clarity and simplicity.

While the original designs aimed to incorporate multiple elements to convey a dynamic and engaging message, the abundance of details may have inadvertently distracted from the core intent and overall aesthetic.

After additional consultations I continued to reassess the design strategy. By revisiting the composition, I identified areas where elements could be simplified, refined, or rearranged to create a cleaner, more cohesive layout. The goal was to retain the essence of the original concept while reducing visual clutter, ensuring that the most critical messages and design elements could stand out.

This experience allowed me to showcase my creativity, attention to detail, and ability to translate abstract ideas into a impactful visual design. It reinforced the importance of consultation and the power of design in shaping a company’s brand perception.

Culture Champions

An internal organization dedicated to creating meaningful work experiences by enhancing key employee connection points, such as onboarding, career development, workplace culture, and recognition. By improving these moments, we aim to foster an environment where employees feel valued, engaged, and empowered, driving both personal and organizational success.

Challenge

I was presented with the challenge by an internal company organization to design their official branding, a task that required me to innovatively create a cohesive and impactful visual identity that would resonate across all levels of the organization. This project was an opportunity to establish a brand that communicates the group’s mission, values, and objectives while ensuring alignment with the company’s overall identity.

Process

I collaborated with organizational leadership to understand their goals, audience, and the essence of the organization. Through workshops and discussions, I gathered insights into the desired tone, message, and personality of the brand. From there, I developed a series of branding elements, including a logo, color palette, typography, and media assets, ensuring they worked harmoniously to convey a warmth, innovation, inclusivity, and a champion mindset.

I decided to rearrange the existing company logo to integrate it into the Culture Champion design, aiming to maintain brand consistency while creating a fresh, dynamic visual identity for this initiative. The existing logo is a cornerstone of the company's image, embodying our values, mission, and professional reputation. Including it within the Culture Champion design was a deliberate choice to align this new initiative with our broader corporate identity.

Rearranging the logo allowed me to creatively adapt its elements in a way that highlights the unique spirit of the Culture Champion program. By reconfiguring its components, I was able to maintain its recognizable essence while tailoring it to fit seamlessly into the new design context. This ensured that the Culture Champion branding felt like a natural extension of the company’s visual language, fostering a sense of unity and familiarity.

 The final logo design and media assets not only met the organization’s needs but also exceeded expectations. The resulting branding became recognized as a powerful tool for unifying internal communications and boosting the group’s visibility and credibility within the company. This project strengthened my skills in brand strategy, creative design, and cross-functional collaboration. It also underscored the importance of thoughtful design in building a strong yet enduring organizational identity.
